Formula

working days = days in the month − Saturdays − Sundays

The calculator checks the weekday of each date in the month and counts Monday to Friday. Holidays are not removed.

Worked example

October 2026 has 31 days and starts on a Thursday, so Thursday, Friday and Saturday occur five times and the other days four times. Weekdays: 5 + 5 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 22. Weekend days: 5 + 4 = 9. Total 22 + 9 = 31.

Frequently asked questions

How are working days counted?

Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the month counts. Saturdays and Sundays do not. February 2026 has 28 days, 8 of them weekend days, so 20 working days.

Are public holidays taken off?

No. Holidays differ by country, region and employer. Subtract the holidays that fall on weekdays from the result yourself.

How many working days can a month have?

From 20 to 23. A 28-day February that starts on a Monday has 20, and a 31-day month that starts on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday has 23. October 2026 has 22.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. February 2024 has 29 days, starting on a Thursday, which gives 21 working days and 8 weekend days.
