Formula
result = value × (pascals in the from unit) ÷ (pascals in the to unit)
Every unit is stored as a fixed multiple of the base unit (Pa), so any pair converts in one step.
Worked example
30 psi to bar: 30 × 6894.757293168 Pa = 206842.7188 Pa, and 1 bar = 100000 Pa, so 206842.7188 ÷ 100000 = 2.068427 bar.
Quick reference
1 atm = 101325 Pa, 1 bar = 100000 Pa, 1 psi = 6894.757 Pa, 1 atm = 14.696 psi.
Frequently asked questions
How many psi is 1 bar?
1 bar is 14.5038 psi, since 100,000 Pa ÷ 6,894.757 Pa per psi. A 2.5 bar tyre is therefore about 36.3 psi.
How many kPa is 1 atmosphere?
1 standard atmosphere is exactly 101,325 Pa, which is 101.325 kPa or 1.01325 bar.
What is the difference between torr and mmHg?
Torr is defined as 1/760 of an atmosphere (133.3224 Pa). The conventional mmHg is 133.322387 Pa, so they differ by less than one part in a million.
How do I convert psi to kPa?
Multiply psi by 6.894757. For example 30 psi is 30 × 6.894757 = 206.84 kPa.
