Formula
result = value × (factor of the from-unit) ÷ (factor of the to-unit), where every factor is the unit expressed in hertz: 1 kHz = 1,000 Hz, 1 MHz = 1,000,000 Hz, 1 GHz = 10⁹ Hz, 1 rpm = 1/60 Hz, 1 rad/s = 1/(2π) Hz.
Worked example
Convert 100 MHz to GHz: 100 × 1,000,000 Hz ÷ 1,000,000,000 Hz = 0.1 GHz. Convert 60 rpm to Hz: 60 × (1/60) = 1 Hz.
Frequently asked questions
How many Hz are in a MHz?
One megahertz is 1,000,000 hertz. So 100 MHz is 100,000,000 Hz, or 0.1 GHz.
How do I convert rpm to Hz?
Divide the revolutions per minute by 60. A motor turning at 1,800 rpm runs at 1,800 ÷ 60 = 30 Hz.
How many radians per second is 1 Hz?
One hertz is one cycle per second, and one cycle is 2π radians, so 1 Hz = 6.283185 rad/s.
How do I convert GHz to MHz?
Multiply by 1,000. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is 2.4 × 1,000 = 2,400 MHz.
Is frequency the same as period?
They are inverses. A 50 Hz signal repeats every 1 ÷ 50 = 0.02 seconds.
